{"id":840,"date":"2015-03-09T17:15:00","date_gmt":"2015-03-09T21:15:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/med.sites.unc.edu\/urology\/unc-urology-ranked-in-the-top-5-2018residencies-in-the-south2019-by-u-s-news-world-report\/"},"modified":"2022-03-14T17:48:42","modified_gmt":"2022-03-14T21:48:42","slug":"unc-urology-ranked-in-the-top-5-2018residencies-in-the-south2019-by-u-s-news-world-report","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/urology\/unc-urology-ranked-in-the-top-5-2018residencies-in-the-south2019-by-u-s-news-world-report\/","title":{"rendered":"UNC Urology Ranked Among Top Residencies in the South by U.S. News &amp; World Report"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-3\" src=\"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/urology\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/637\/2018\/04\/copy_of_Hospital-1024x284.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"900\" height=\"250\" \/>Ten residency programs at the University of North Carolina Hospitals were ranked among the top residencies in the South in results released by Doximity and U.S. News &amp; World Report.<\/p>\n<p>Following the program\u2019s <a class=\"external-link\" title=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/urology\/unc-urology-ranked-among-top-residency-programs-in-the-nation\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">ranking in the top 20 urology residencies nationwide<\/a> in the first-ever national evaluation of residency programs this past fall, UNC Hospitals\u2019 residency in urology was ranked in the top 5 \u201cResidencies in the South\u201d in the specialty.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cThis recognition affirms our department\u2019s culture and dedication to education,\u201d said<a href=\"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/urology\/directory\/eric-wallen-md-facs\/\"> Eric Wallen, MD<\/a>, Professor and Urology Residency Program Director. \u201cWe are fortunate to be able to recruit outstanding residents and we are grateful for this recognition from our peer physicians in the Doximity network.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"line-height: 1.5em\">Other UNC residencies that were ranked in the top ten in the South include: UNC\u2019s <\/span>obstetrics and gynecology residency<span style=\"line-height: 1.5em\">, <\/span>family medicine residency<span style=\"line-height: 1.5em\">, <\/span>otolaryngology<span style=\"line-height: 1.5em\">, <\/span>psychiatry<span style=\"line-height: 1.5em\">, <\/span>internal medicine<span style=\"line-height: 1.5em\">, <\/span>surgery<span style=\"line-height: 1.5em\">, <\/span>pediatrics<span style=\"line-height: 1.5em\">, <\/span>orthopedic surgery<span style=\"line-height: 1.5em\">, and <\/span>anesthesiology<span style=\"line-height: 1.5em\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"line-height: 1.5em\">The rankings were calculated based on evaluations from more than 50,000 board-certified U.S. physicians, who evaluated 3,691 residency training programs nationwide across 20 specialties.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a style=\"line-height: 1.5em\" title=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/www.doximity.com\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Doximity<\/a><span style=\"line-height: 1.5em\"> is an online professional network for U.S. physicians launched in 2011.
