Under his guidance, the Section has grown into a Division within the Department of Urology, from one faculty member to four, expanded into the surrounding areas of the state, and held consistent ranking in the US News &amp; World report.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/urology\/directory\/sherry-ross-md\/\">Dr. Sherry Ross<\/a>, Associate Professor of Urology and Pediatrics has assumed the role of the new Division Chief of Pediatric Urology. Under Dr. Ross\u2019s leadership and with the addition of new faculty, the Division will expand research efforts as well as its clinical footprint across the state. Such efforts include the extension and development of specialty programs and continued statewide outreach efforts that enhance the care of children and serve the families of NC. He was one of the leading specialty voices on the North Carolina Pediatrics Society. Additionally, he invested time teaching circumcisions to general pediatricians at UNC Children\u2019s allowing our system to better meet the needs of patients and families. As his first general pediatrics circumcision student, he always displayed patience waiting for my untrained hands to pick up the procedural steps!\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"lead\" style=\"color: #ffffff;\">\u201cDr. Ross has become a valued leader with UNC Children\u2019s. She was recruited to help lead the very complicated UNC Children\u2019s Chapel Hill multi-specialty clinic. For many of these years, he was the only pediatric urologist working at UNC full-time, yet was seemingly always available to children and families with urologic concerns. His leadership and the environment he created helped to pave the way for a part-time urologist from Raleigh, a second and now a third full-time urologist to join the program. He leaves the leadership of the program having helped it to its strongest position ever.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"lead\">\u201cSince coming to UNC from Duke, Dr. Ross has built a busy clinical practice but also built her professional leadership skills.
