She not only brings a wealth of clinical experience but also is a high-level surgeon-scientist who is changing the way that patients and their families make decisions about surgery.\u201d<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: right; color: #ffffff; link-decoration: none;\"><a class=\"white\" href=\"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/urology\/directory\/sherry-ross-md\/\">Sherry Ross, MD<\/a><br \/>\nChief, Division of Pediatric Urology<br \/>\nAssociate Professor of Urology<\/h3>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>More About Dr. Chan<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/urology\/directory\/katherine-chan\/\">Dr. Katherine Chan<\/a> completed medical school at the Saint Louis University School of Medicine and completed a urology residency at the University Hospitals Case Medical Center (Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine) in Cleveland, Ohio.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Chan went on to complete a three-year pediatric urology fellowship at Boston Children\u2019s Hospital with the Harvard Medical School in 2013. As part of the fellowship, Dr. Chan completed a Pediatric Health Services Fellowship, earning a Master of Public Health from the Harvard School of Public Health.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Chan was an Assistant Professor of Urology at Indiana University School of Medicine for over 7 years where she was the Co-Director of the Pediatric Kidney Stone Clinic at Riley Hospital for Children. Dr. Chan also maintained a clinical and surgical practice for underserved rural and urban communities in the state of Indiana throughout her tenure there.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Chan is a diplomate of the American Board of Urology and is board certified in general and pediatric urology. She specializes in the surgical treatment of pediatric hypospadias, undescended testes, and kidney stones.<\/p>\n<p>As a surgeon-scientist, Dr. Chan has been the principal investigator for multiple NIH-funded research projects over the past 4 years. <a name=\"latest-research\"><\/a>Her latest research focus is developing a decision-making tool for parents of children who have hypospadias. Her team is also creating a patient-centered outcomes tool to study the long-term effects in adolescents and young adults after hypospadias repair in childhood. Dr. Chan is a member of the Hypospadias Task Force of the Societies of Pediatric Urology.
