The University licenses Panopto Enterprise. This streaming media service is free to UNC faculty, staff, and students.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Panopto supports a broad range of video file formats, including AVI, MP4, MPG, WMV, MOV, QT, ASF, 3GP, WMA, MP3, M4V, and more.<\/li>\n<li><strong>No patient Protected Health Information (PHI) can be included in UNC Panopto recordings<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr  style=\"margin:30px 0\"class=\" rule-thin osc-rule\" \/>\n<h2>Basic Resources<\/h2>\n<ol class=\"ol1\">\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s1\"><a href=\"https:\/\/uncch.hosted.panopto.com\/\">Login to Panopto<\/a>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/it\/services\/lecture-capture\/\">Where to get Panopto support<\/a> &#8211; the School of Medicine (SOM) has its own panopto support through the Instructional Media Services (IMS)\u202fteam within the Information Technology Department. The IMS team extensively uses Panopto to record presentations, lectures, meetings, and events for students (we call this lecture capture). This allows us to give access to multiple users so you can collaborate with coworkers. You can request this folder on the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/it\/services\/lecture-capture\/\">Lecture Capture webpage<\/a>\u00a0by selecting the \u201c<strong>Report an Issue or Request Help<\/strong>\u201d button.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Videos uploaded to the \u201cMy Folder\u201d of a personal account cannot be shared. However, you can create a sub-folder from which the video can be shared or, request a SOM Department folder.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr  style=\"margin:30px 0\"class=\" rule-thin osc-rule\" \/>\n<h2>Panopto Retention Policy<\/h2>\n<p>The retention policy is 2 years since the last time a video was viewed. Auto-captions use automatic speech recognition (ASR) technology to transcribe audio and synchronize text with videos to create closed captions.\n<ul>\n<li>Automatic captions might misrepresent the spoken content due to mispronunciations, accents, dialects, or background noise.<\/li>\n<li>ASR captions are typically 70% accurate depending on the audio quality in the recording.<\/li>\n<li><strong>You should always review automatic captions and edit any parts that haven&#8217;t been properly transcribed<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Panopto\u2019s instructions on how to add captions to a video.\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/support.panopto.com\/s\/article\/ASR-Generated-Captions\"><span class=\"s1\">Panopto:\u00a0<\/span>How to Add ASR (Automatic Speech Recognition) Captions into a Video<\/a><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"s1\"><a href=\"https:\/\/support.panopto.com\/s\/article\/Manually-Caption-Your-Videos\">Panopto: How to Manually Caption Sessions in the Editor<\/a>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Don&#8217;t have time to caption your video?<\/strong><br \/>\nUNC&#8217;s Digital Accessibility Office (DAO) has a campus contract with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.3playmedia.com\/\">3Play Media<\/a>. After copying the embed code (the iframe) and pasting it into a page\/post, you need to change the\u00a0alligator brackets (<span style=\"color: #c00;\"><strong>&lt;<\/strong><\/span> and <span style=\"color: #c00;\"><strong>&gt;<\/strong><\/span>) to the squared off brackets ( <span style=\"color: #c00;\"><strong>[<\/strong><\/span> and <span style=\"color: #c00;\"><strong>]<\/strong><\/span> ). View our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/webguide\/userguide\/iframes\/\">iFrames documentation<\/a> for a more detailed explanation.<\/li>\n<li>For accessibility reasons, you should always include a <strong>title<\/strong> attribute for an &lt;iframe&gt;. This is used by screen readers to read what the content of the iframe is. The iframe code from Panopto does not include the title attribute by default so you will need to add one. Simply add <code class=\"inline\">title=\"Add your descriptive title here\"<\/code> to the iFrame code as shown below.
