{"id":15292,"date":"2026-02-05T12:16:27","date_gmt":"2026-02-05T17:16:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/webguide\/?page_id=15292"},"modified":"2026-02-11T12:07:07","modified_gmt":"2026-02-11T17:07:07","slug":"featured-and-bottom-content-areas","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/webguide\/userguide\/getting-started\/i-have-a-site\/featured-and-bottom-content-areas\/","title":{"rendered":"Featured and Bottom Content Areas"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In addition to the main page content area, the School of Medicine web system provides two optional layout regions for displaying content in prominent, full-width locations: the <strong>Featured Content<\/strong> and <strong>Bottom Content<\/strong>\u00a0areas.<\/p>\n<p>These areas are typically used for visual emphasis and not meant for general page content.<\/p>\n<h2>What These Areas Are Used For<\/h2>\n<p>Featured and Bottom Content areas are most commonly used to display:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Banners<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/webguide\/cells\">Cells plugin<\/a> content<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>These regions are best suited for high-impact, limited content rather than long blocks of text.<\/p>\n<h2>Content Requirements and Limitations<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>These areas <strong>only accept HTML and shortcode<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Standard page editor tools (paragraphs, headings, media blocks, etc.) are not available<\/li>\n<li>Most content placed here is added via:\n<ul>\n<li>Shortcode generated by the Cells plugin<\/li>\n<li>Custom HTML<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Featured Content Area<\/h2>\n<p>The Featured Content area appears towards the top of the page:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Directly below the top navigation<\/li>\n<li>Above the left navigation and main page content<\/li>\n<li>Spans the full width of the browser window<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Content added here pushes the page\u2019s body content down the screen.\u00a0For best results, keep content short, avoid stacking multiple Cells or large blocks of content, and reserve longer content for the main page body<\/p>\n<p>Because this content displays before the main page content, it pushes that content down the screen.
