  • A Physical Exam: consists of a neuropathy assessment and a general physical exam
  • A Gynecologic Exam: consist of external exam, pap smear, colposcopy (if applicable), and biopsy (if applicable)
  • A Neurocognitive Battery (NC): which is, administered only to 25% of the WIHS cohort every visit (southern sites will not begin NC assessments until 2015). Neurocognitive tasks are administered to assess performance in the cognitive domains of: (1) verbal memory; (2) executive function; (3) psychomotor speed; (4) attention/concentration; and (5) fine motor control

  • The protocol for completing the WIHS Medical Exam is detailed in the WIHS Manual of Operations, Section 7 (https://statepiaps.jhsph.edu/wihs/moo/v38/).

Each of the forms used to collect information during the medical exam is outlined in the tables below, with links to a PDF version. In addition, when available, we have provided links to the “Question by Questions Specifications” (QxQs). QxQs are detailed instructions that complement a sub-set of forms. QxQ’s explain the purpose of questions, clarify terminology and provide additional instructions to assist the interviewer.
