Gabrielle Neri-Mynatt, a second-year Physician Assistant Studies student at the UNC School of Medicine, was awarded a PA Foundation Scholarship in August 2017 along with 18 other PA students across the country.

The PA Foundation scholarships focus on helping students who demonstrate a clear passion for the field and health care-related community service.

Dr. Lawrence Kim, with the UNC Department of Surgery, worked with Neri-Mynatt during her clinical rotations.

“[Neri-Mynatt] was a student who didn’t seem like a student; it felt like I was working with a certified PA,” Kim said.  “She made clinic move faster and more smoothly.  She was accurate and efficient, and anticipated needs.”

Neri-Mynatt was one of 368 applicants for the scholarship opportunity. Since the program began, the PA Foundation has awarded nearly $2.3 million to more than 1,500 students.

Recipients received scholarships based on their knowledge of the PA profession, their goals in the field, and community service activities.
