Early Psychosis Interventions of North Carolina (EPI-NC) supports early psychosis treatment programs in North Carolina. We aim to inspire recovery through evidence-based treatment models, education, support, and advocacy.

 

What is Psychosis?

Psychosis is a set of experience that make it difficult to figure out what is real and what is not real. It can feel like your mind is playing tricks on you. the experiences include hallucinations (seeing, hearing, or feeling things that are not there), delusions (false beliefs), and disorganized thinking and/or behavior.

Clinic Locations

We understand that finding support can be difficult and confusing. EPI-NC has developed a list of resources available throughout North Carolina that can be found on the Clinic Locations page. This page will list the Coordinated Specialty Care clinics (CSC), Inpatient Psychiatric Hospitals, Intensive Outpatient clinics (IOP), and other clinics that may be in your area.

Bolster

Bolster is an mHealth mobile app that provides education and support to caregivers of loved ones with psychosis. The goal of the Bolster Project is to evaluate the delivery of an app intervention. This app is designed to help caregivers improve their communication and coping skills, facilitate treatment-seeking, and expand knowledge of mental health illnesses and their treatments.

Individuals Experiencing Psychosis Support

EPI-NC understands that experiencing psychosis or receiving the diagnosis of a psychotic disorder can be stressful and isolating. We hope to provide resources created by and for people experiencing psychosis. This page offers a collection of first-hand accounts of psychosis.

Caring for a loved one experiencing psychosis can be a stressful time in your life. EPI-NC has compiled a list of resources that other caregivers found useful when navigating their loved ones’ psychotic disorder.

EPI-NC strives to spread awareness about First Episode Psychosis by making the most up to date best practices available to all clinicians in North Carolina. On this page you will find educations and trainings that will help you in caring for a client who is experiencing psychosis.
