Providing the highest quality of expert care to patients

Care from the Experts

The  Acute Care and Trauma Division of the UNC Department of Surgery and UNC Healthcare Systems is dedicated to fulfilling several missions. Our Acute Care Surgery team is dedicated to providing the highest quality care for injured and critically ill patients. Our Trauma and Critical Care team is dedicated to providing the highest quality care for injured and critically ill patients. We develop and implement multidisciplinary research programs designed to investigate the physiologic, metabolic, and pathologic states affecting patients with multiple injuries. When it comes to the our education mission, we provide high-quality relevant education to medical students, residents, fellows, nurses, and paramedical personnel in areas relating to the care of our surgical patients. Our other main mission is our research efforts in which we provide a rich clinical and research environment to facilitate the training of Critical Care Fellows..

We are a group of highly trained expert surgeons in the field of general, acute care and trauma surgery. We are calm and compassionate, understanding that taking care of patients is our highest priority. Whether it is a serious acute illness requiring surgical intervention or an emergent or urgent surgery, we are here for our patients throughout the entire medical journey.
