Nisha Baral, PhD

I got my PhD in Industrial Engineering from the University of Central Florida and an MS in Modeling and simulation from the same university. My interest is in modeling complex adaptive systems using an agent-based modeling approach and data modeling techniques. I have experience building mis/information diffusion models and analyzing social media datasets from several platforms like GitHub, Reddit, YouTube, and Twitter. I also studied emotion contagion due to social influence and its effect on users’ information processing capacity. My goal at Abacus is to apply my simulation and modeling and data science skills to community-based research on epidemiology like COVID or any other public health-related issues.
