  • 6 BT – RN team will bring patients down; we will take up post recovery in OR.

New Subglottic Endotracheal Tubes

  • These will be used preferentially for intubation during codes in the hospital.
  • They will be used rarely in the OR
    • Only for patients with an anticipated >48 hour intubation.
  • These ETTs are located in selected ORs and in the anesthesia work room. Currently, they are available only in adult sizes.

Centurion NG Tube Securing Devices

  • Our ICU’s have seen an incidence of pressure ulcers related to NG tube securement.
  • Please watch the short <2 minute video below about the use of the Centurion NG tube securement device.
  • Please utilize this device with any planned inpatient NG tube placement.

Drug Shortages – November 2020

Local Anesthetics with Epinephrine

  • Combination vials of local anesthetic with epinephrine are once again on back order.
  • We have already run out of the following products:
    • Bupivacaine 0.5% w/ epinephrine 1:200,000; 30 mL vial
    • Bupivacaine 0.25% w/ epinephrine 1:200,000; 30 mL vial
    • (Supply limited) – Lidocaine 1% w/ epinephrine 1:100,000; 20 mL vial
  • Adequate supply of all plain bupivacaine and lidocaine products.
  • Should OR’s need to combine epinephrine with plain bupivacaine/lidocaine, please feel free to call OR Pharmacy for Calculations Tip Sheet or assistance.

Chlorhexidine 0.12% cup

  • 5 mL cups on backorder due to nationwide recall.
  • Have been replaced with 15 mL cups in all Pyxis machines.

Cisatracurium

  • Reserve for patients with poor renal/liver function.
  • Stock centralized in MAIN-OR Pyxis fridge for extended expiration dating.

Gelfilm

  • Next release date is December 2020.
  • To obtain Durepair, please reach out to Materials Supply Chain.
