The Department of Anesthesiology/Linnstaedt Lab received a UNC Research Infrastructure grant to purchase a telemetry system in support of activity measurements and heart monitoring in freely moving animals.

Linnstaedt Lab members Erica, Ishani and Lauren publish their article “CpG Methylation Levels in HPA Axis Genes Predict Chronic Pain Outcomes Following Trauma Exposure” in The Journal of Pain (PMID: 36906051), and was selected as the Featured Article for July 2023!    

The Linnstaedt Lab received a grant from Cures Within Reach to fund a pilot randomized clinical trial aimed at testing feasibility and safety of administering 17β-estradiol to women trauma survivors in the early aftermath of traumatic stress exposure to prevent chronic posttraumatic pain and enduring stress symptoms.   Read more here. 

Lauren attended the North American Pain School (NAPS) in Montebello, Canada, where the leading experts in the fields of pain research and management meet to provide a unique educational and networking experience for the next generation of basic science and clinical pain researchers.

Erica presented her work on methylation of the POMC gene, Simran presented her work on biological sample processing in the AURORA study, Tina presented her work on pain prediction models using machine learning techniques, and Lauren presented her work on the relationship between early life adversity and chronic pain.
