Mr. Troiani received his Bachelor of Health Sciences / Physician Assistant Certificate from Duke University School of Medicine in 1991 and his Masters of Health Sciences, Duke University School of Allied Health in 1994. He began his career at UNC in 1991 when he was hired by Charles van der Horst, MD, the Director of the AIDS Clinical Trials Unit (ACTU). The first years at UNC Mr. Troiani practiced in Infectious Diseases in the early years of the AIDS epidemic treating patients with HIV/AIDS. He divided his time between a clinic practice, traveling to NC state prisons treating the incarcerated, and research clinical trials. Mr. Troiani currently practices in Neurology where he is fortunate to focus on both industry sponsored and investigator-initiated research. He serves as APP Liaison for the department’s in-patient and out-patient APPs. He is Co-chair for the APP Center Education Sub-committee and sits on an IRB safety committee. Mr. Troiani has been a loyal UNC at Chapel Hill and UNC Health systems employee for 27 years. The institution’s commitment to quality patient care and being on the cutting edge of research creates a supportive atmosphere, allowing Mr. Troiani to practice in one medical institution but in diverse areas of medicine.
