The North Carolina Council on Developmental Disabilities (NCCDD) is a DD Network partner, and was created through the DD Act to support the needs of individuals with disabilities in each state. The Council is made up of NC citizens, most of whom have lived experience, as well as the statewide agency stakeholders. Governor Josh Stein appointed Kenneth Kelty, Disability Advocate with the CIDD, to serve on the Council.
“As a Council member, I want to create more professional advocacy opportunities for people with lived experience and keep moving important conversations about inclusion forward,” Kelty said. “I believe in ‘nothing about us, without us.’”
Mr. Kelty was also recently appointed by the Council as Chair for the Advocacy Development Committee which works on initiatives that support advocacy and self advocacy for the state of NC.
