AAMC’s Organizational Leadership in Academic Medicine
About
The Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) has developed the Organizational Leadership in Academic Medicine (OLAM) seminar to equip new associate deans and department chairs (who have been in their position for three years or less) with the essential leadership and management skills needed to support their institutions’ mission and goals.
Program Curriculum and Experience
The two-day, on-site program is designed to provide an opportunity for meaningful networking and skill building, with emphasis on:
- Leadership
- People and Team Management
- Financial Decision-Making
- Communication
By the end of the seminar, participants will be able to apply new skills for managing stress and conflict, building effective teams, communicating effectively with various stakeholders, negotiating, and leading change.
Application Process and Timeline
The program is typically offered in October, with an application deadline in July. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, so early application is encouraged. More information is available on the program website.
