About

Dr. Andrea Lewis is an Assistant Professor and core faculty at Southern Colorado Family Medicine (SCFM) residency, in Pueblo, CO. Dr. Lewis is board-certified in Family Medicine and Osteopathic Neuromuscular Medicine.  She also maintains American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) registries in Abdomen, Cardiac, and Vascular ultrasound.

Dr. Lewis started her ultrasound career in 2004, graduating with an MHS in Diagnostic Medical Ultrasound from the University of Missouri – Columbia.  She practiced as a registered sonographer for many years, including at a tertiary teaching hospital.

In addition to practicing full-spectrum osteopathic family medicine, her aim is to continue teaching ultrasound and full-spectrum family medicine to increase access to care.

 

POCUS teaching experience:

Her ultrasound teaching started as a sonographer training other sonography students on rotation.

During medical school at Touro University California and residency at SCFM, she continued teaching and training peers.  Since her faculty appointment, she has been working on POCUS curriculum development for family medicine residents.

Nationally/Internationally, Dr. Lewis has led and participated in teaching American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) FMX POCUS workshops and on-demand content.  She has also provided ultrasound workshops internationally while on a global health rotation.  As well as creating webinar/online learning for WINFOCUS.
