About

Dr. Ben Clements is an Associate Professor at the University of Vermont, Larner College of Medicine.  A family physician, he practices both inpatient and outpatient medicine at the University of Vermont Medical Center.  He completed family medicine residency at the University of Vermont (2018) and completed his fellowship, with Honors, with the Ultrasound Leadership Academy (2022).  He is also a fellow of the Academy of Wilderness Medicine.

Dr. Clements is the Director of Point of Care Ultrasound for the Family Medicine Network Department and the Family Medicine representative to the University of Vermont Health Network POCUS Steering Committee, serving in 2025 as the Interim Chair.  He is the Curricular Lead for POCUS for the UVMMC Family Medicine Residency.

Dr. Clements is a member of the UVM Larner College of Medicine Teaching Academy.  His educational focus is teaching POCUS to all levels of learners. He runs POCUS workshops for FM clerkship students every 7 weeks, leads a 2-day bootcamp for new FM, EM interns, and Critical Care fellows, and multiple workshops for FM residents in Vermont and Upstate New York.  In 2025, he directs a year-long training program for selected FM faculty members to help grow the pool of faculty with POCUS skills.  He is the Co-Chair for Champ’s Sono Camp, an Ultrasound Conference for Generalists (named after Champ, the lake monster who lives in Lake Champlain).  Nationally, he is a core faculty member for the STFM POCUS Educator’s Certificate Program.  He was recognized for his teaching as the 2024 FM Faculty Teacher of the Year at UVM.

Ben lives in Burlington, Vermont, with his wife and two rapidly growing children.  He enjoys any opportunity to cycle or ski in Vermont’s Green Mountains.
