About
Dr. Laurel Gutierrez is a family medicine physician at the University of Michigan where she both practices and teaches primary care and point of care ultrasound (POCUS). She completed medical school and residency at the University of Michigan. She completed her Advanced Primary Care Ultrasound fellowship at the University of Michigan as well.
She is the Director of Resident Ultrasound Education for the Family Medicine department at University of Michigan. She also works with trainees at all levels, including medical students and faculty, in teaching POCUS. She helps to lead an ultrasound clinic through the University of Michigan and has expanded this clinic to another site with the goal of increasing access to patients and opportunities for residents to learn ultrasound skills. She is passionate about inspiring the next generation of family medicine physicians to use ultrasound to provide excellent care and to improve healthcare access for their patients. She also has a special interest in the use of ultrasound in global health and has led a multidisciplinary workshop for the Global Health Equity program in training physicians in POCUS.
