Barbara Silver has been working in tobacco prevention and cessation for over 10 years. While living in Vermont, she traveled to various worksites to counsel employees who wanted to become tobacco free. She also provided tobacco cessation education at several health care practices around the state. Since coming to North Carolina, she has worked with youth groups doing tobacco prevention peer education, obtained her certification as a Tobacco Treatment Specialist, and is presently the Program Manager for Tobacco Free Tar Heels, a free cessation program for employees in the UNC Health Care System and for the Town of Chapel Hill.
