Laurel Sisler is originally from Ontario, Canada and came to North Carolina in 2007 to attend Duke University and compete on the Duke Rowing Team. She graduated from Duke with a degree in Psychology. In 2013, Laurel graduated from the School of Social Work at UNC Chapel Hill and is currently a Licensed Clinical Social Work Associate and Tobacco Treatment Counselor. She has always been passionate about working with people individually and in groups, helping them to reach their health goals. Laurel is the Director of the Nicotine Dependence Program and the Weight Management Program at UNC Hospital. She enjoys helping patients find their internal motivation to become tobacco-free, collaborating with hospital staff to provide evidence-based tobacco cessation services to patients, and assisting social work interns in reaching their learning goals.
