The Harrop Lab was busy at the 2019 International Society for Autism Research Conference in Montreal. Former research assistant, Desiree Jones (now a graduate student at UT Dallas), presented data from our ASF-funded eye tracking study that considered how gender effects attention in ASD. Graduate student, Aaron Dallman, presented data from Project BIDD on how executive functioning mediates problem behaviors (such as lethargy and irritability) in ASD. Former graduate student and research assistant, Sallie Nowell (now a postdoc at Frank Porter Graham), presented data examining parent-reported sex differences in circumscribed interests. Dr. Harrop presented data from her K award, including an analysis of event-related spectral perturbations in relation to sensory behaviors in ASD and an analysis of how parent reports of early milestones in ASD vary by biological sex and impact age of diagnosis and early concerns. Data from Dr. Harrop’s postdoc at UCLA was also presented, exploring the relationships between RRBs and play in toddlers with ASD.
