Graduate Students

Allison Benedict is a graduate student in the MS of Speech and Language Pathology program at UNC. She received her BS at Meredith College in Raleigh, NC, where she gained experience working in ABA therapy as a Registered Behavior Technician with autistic preschool students.

Gabby Spinella is a master’s student of UNC-Chapel Hill’s Speech-Language Pathology program. She also went to UNC for her bachelor’s degree in global studies, education, and speech and hearing sciences.

Dr. Aaron Dallman is an occupational therapist who recently obtained his PhD from UNC-CH.  Aaron is now an Assistant Professor in the Department of Occupational Science at Towson University.

Dr. Stephanie Bristol is an occupational therapist who recently obtained her PhD from UNC-CH. Stephanie is now a Post-Doc at the University of Arizona College of Veterinary Medicine.

Paige Wintermute graduated from the MS of Speech-Language Pathology program at UNC-Chapel Hill. Paige hopes to one day serve as a bilingual pediatric speech-language pathologist, working with children with developmental disabilities in medical settings.

Research Assistants

Roshni Ammanamanchi was an Undergraduate Research Assistant in our lab and graduated B.S. in Psychology and a minor in Spanish for Medical Professions. In the future, she hopes to become a therapist and open up her own clinical practice.

Gavin Thompson was an Undergraduate Research Assistant in our lab and graduated with his B.S. in Psychology and a minor in Biology. Gavin plans to obtain a graduate degree in Occupational Therapy in hopes of continuing in the line of Autism research.

Amanda Clowdis was an Undergraduate Research Assistant in our lab and graduated with her B.S. in Psychology. Amanda plans to obtain a graduate degree in Occupational Therapy.

Kedrianna Griffin was an Undergraduate Research Assistant in our lab and graduated with her B.A. in Psychology and a minor in Conflict Management. Kedrianna plans to continue working with neurodiverse children and hopes to obtain her PhD in Clinical Psychology.

Henry Swift was an Undergraduate Research Assistant in our lab. Henry is working towards his degree in Psychology and Information Science with a minor in Music. Henry plans to obtain a graduate degree in Child Development and would like to continue to work with children with Autism.

Anaam Amin was an Undergraduate Research Assistant in our lab. Anaam is working towards her degree in Psychology and Neuroscience with a minor in Public Policy. Anaam would like to continue to work in a field that involves child development.

Annie Flannagan was an Undergraduate Research Assistant in our lab. She majored in Human Development and Family Studies, as well as Music. Annie is currently working on her honors thesis and plans to pursue graduate school to continue to work with neurodiverse populations.

Leah Idichandy was an Undergraduate Research Assistant in our lab for a number of years. She majored in Psychology with minors in Neuroscience and Biology at UNC. Leah is currently pursuing career opportunities to prepare her for graduate school.

Lunar Singsomphone was an Undergraduate Research Assistant in our lab. She majored in Psychology with a minor in Exercise and Sport Science at UNC.

Briana Destaffan was an Undergraduate Research Assistant in our lab for a number of years. She double majored in Psychology and French at UNC. She is currently in graduate school in Paris studying Global Public Health.

Allie Lerner was an Undergraduate Research Assistant in our lab. She majored in Psychology with minors in Neuroscience and Comparative Literature. Now, Allie works locally with children with autism.

Emma McQueen was an Undergraduate Research Assistant in our lab and completed an honors thesis in Psychology and Neuroscience. Now, she’s a Postbac Clinical Research Fellow at the Marcus Autism Center (Emory University).

Katie Mullett was an Undergraduate Research Assistant in our lab. She majored in Psychology and Women’s and Gender Studies at UNC. Katie is currently pursuing opportunities in law to prepare for law school.

Melissa Cavagnini volunteered as a Human Development and Family Studies intern. She is currently in graduate school at Vanderbilt University to become a special education teacher.

Desi Jones was a  Research Assistant in our lab from 2016-2018. Now, Desi is a PhD Candidate at UT Dallas, working with Dr. Noah Sasson – one of our favorite collaborators! Her research focuses on social cognition in ASD.
