Dr. Amy Shaheen is the Vice-President of Practice Quality and Innovation and Executive Medical Director at UNC Health Alliance. As a prominent leader in the UNC population health and value-based contracting initiatives, Dr. Shaheen has spearheaded system-wide quality improvement projects across diverse areas, including hypertension, women’s health, and health equity.
Her leadership extends to ambulatory analytics, Epic Solutions, ambulatory coaching, and change management. She is instrumental in coordinating system-wide physician collaboratives in primary care, urgent care, cancer care, heart and vascular, women’s health, and behavioral health. Additionally, Dr. Shaheen is a key member of the system quality group (QIOC), where her deep understanding of system goals shapes strategic decisions.
Dr. Shaheen was also an original faculty member of the Institute for Healthcare Quality Improvement (IHQI), where she played a pivotal role in establishing the Clinical Leadership and Quality Services (CLQS) course. Her contributions reflect a commitment to enhancing healthcare delivery through innovation and quality improvement.
