Dr. B. Anthony (Tony) Lindsey is the System Chief Medical Officer for UNC Health, as well as the Chair of the QIOC, Quality Improvement Oversight Committee. Dr. Lindsey has also served as Executive Associate Dean for Clinical Affairs, Chief Medical Officer for UNC Health Care and Professor of Psychiatry. In his role as Executive Associate Dean, he was responsible for representing the Dean on matters relating to the clinical activities of the medical school faculty. As Chief Medical Officer, he coordinated all medical staff committees, chaired the Medical Staff Executive Committee and represented the medical staff at the Health Care System Board. He is active in efforts to improve patient safety and quality. Dr. Lindsey is a psychiatrist with specialty certification in geriatric psychiatry. He previously served as Vice Chair for Clinical Affairs and Director of Medical Student Education in the UNC Department of Psychiatry. He currently serves as a consulting psychiatrist at UNC Hospitals.
Dr. Lindsey earned a B.S. in chemistry and biology from Trevecca College and his M.D. from East Carolina University School of Medicine. He completed his residency training at UNC Hospitals. He served on the University of South Carolina School of Medicine faculty prior to joining the UNC School of Medicine faculty.
