Courtney Roberts is a non-traditional medical student from Brentwood, TN who has spent most of her adult life in NC. She is interested in pursuing obstetrics and gynecology. As an African American female who majored in Sociology, minored in Women’s Studies, and pursued an MSPH with subsequent research career in Public Health, she is especially interested in the role socioeconomic factors play in women’s health outcomes. Her experiences piqued her interest in quality improvement initiatives especially aimed at reducing healthcare inequities.
Previous QI experience includes a project focused on increasing percentage of patients with diabetes who have had their yearly retinal eye exams and addressing both patient and system level barriers to updating this information in their health maintenance record. This year, she is excited to be working with Dr. Quist-Nelson through CLQS on a project focusing on Lasix use for readmission reduction for postpartum hypertension.
