Lucas Nielsen is a fourth-year dual degree medical and Master of Business Administration student originally from Rødovre, Denmark resettled in Charlotte, NC. His pursuit of quality improvement stems from his interest in innovation and desire to impact patients on a larger scale. Lucas is working with Dr. Charul Haugan, UNC Health Medical Director of Clinical Optimization and Chair of the Sepsis Care Optimization Committee, on the Fiscal Year 2023 UNC Health system goal to decrease first-dose antibiotic turnaround time for adult sepsis patients, specifically focusing on the UNCMC Medical ICU, to reduce sepsis mortality.
