University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill scientists created a new drug delivery system, called the Spatiotemporal On-Demand Patch (SOP), which can receive commands wirelessly from a smartphone or computer to schedule and trigger the release of drugs from individual microneedles.

Ron Alterovitz, PhD, in the UNC Computer Science Department, and Jason Akulian, MD MPH, in the UNC School of Medicine, have shown that their steerable lung robot can autonomously maneuver the intricacies of the lung, while avoiding important lung structures.

UNC Health will participate as early adopters of Generative AI (Artificial Intelligence) tools through a program with Epic. It will be one of the initial few healthcare systems nationwide to do so.
