I went to UNC for undergrad and spent my gap years here. In my free time, I enjoy rewatching comfort tv shows, painting, and exploring new restaurants in the area (so don’t hesitate to ask for recs!)

Hey y’all, my name is Peyton! I am from Mint Hill, NC (just outside of Charlotte) and graduated from UNC Chapel Hill in 2022. I did a little bit of everything in my gap years, but outside of medicine my favorite things to do are going fishing, hanging out with friends, and spending time outside. I am super excited to be acting as an advocate for Williamson college, the best college in the entire program (it really is, I am passionate about this). Hi everyone! I’m Jess, and I am from Wilmington, North Carolina. I went to UNC for undergrad and studied Biology and Medical Anthropology. After graduating, I moved to Chicago, where I worked with dermatologists at UChicago to study skin conditions. When I’m not watching Sketchy, I’m playing volleyball, hanging out with my cat, and fishing. I am so excited to work with Seth this upcoming year and getting to know you all! Hi hi! My name is Miranda Tran, and I am beyond thrilled to be your foundation phase peer advocate for Simkins! I am from Cary, NC, and I graduated from UNC-CH in 2024. Before coming to medical school, I worked as a nursing assistant at UNC Children’s. Outside of school, I love baking, reading, running, and trying everything at Trader Joe’s. Heyo! My name is Nicholas Kirby, and I am beyond excited to be one of the Simkins peer advocates this year. I have lived throughout NC, having grown up in New Bern, completed my undergraduate and Master of Science degrees at High Point University and East Carolina University, and worked for two years as a scribe in Raleigh. When I’m not studying I really enjoy being active, whether that is disc golf, volleyball, rock climbing, running, and baking (cookies are my specialty). Hi friends! My name is Maddie, and I am very excited to be a peer advocate for Dimock College! I am originally from the OBX but grew up in the Raleigh/Wake Forest area. I recently graduated from the University of South Carolina in May 2025, where I studied Biology and Neuroscience. I am extremely passionate about global health and hope to serve underserved communities abroad. Outside of SOM, I love trying new coffee shops, reading, and hanging out with my dog, Charlie. I can’t wait to create an amazing community through Dimock College!

Howdy folks! My name is Jonas, I’m an NC native but spent some years in Colorado and Alaska before starting my undergrad at UNC Chapel Hill. Before becoming a double Tar Heel and joining the UNC SoM I spent a year working as a CMA in the beautiful town of Sylva, NC. In my free time I enjoy playing music, working out, hiking, and learning how to fish. Every person’s journey into medicine has unique twists and turns, and medical school itself is no different!
