Congratulations to Lucia Grandison, a Ph.D. student, who received a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Philosophy-Neuroscience-Psychology from the Washington University In St. Louis, St. Louis, MO, a member of Dr. Conlon’s Lab, for recently receiving a predoctoral fellowship from AHA.
Ms. Grandison’s research explores sex-based differences in cardiovascular disease by examining KDM6A, an X-linked H3K27 demethylase, in regulating cardiac ion channels in male and female hearts. Her study uses conditional deletion models, transcriptomic analysis, and epigenetic profiling to clarify female-specific KDM6A-COMPASS mechanisms and compensatory functions in males, highlighting the implications for cardiac health and precision medicine.
