Congratulations to Wei Shi, a postdoctoral fellow in the Conlon Lab, in collaboration with the Lab of Ian Davis, M.D., Ph.D., Chief, Pediatric Hematology-Oncology; G. Denman Hammond Professor of Childhood Cancer, UNC Children’s Research Institute and the Lab of Christine Edry Seidman, M.D., Director, Cardiovascular Genetics Center; Professor, Harvard Medical School; Cardiovascular Medicine, and Jonathan G. Seidman, Ph.D., Henrietta B. and Frederick H. Bugher Foundation Professor of Genetics, for publishing article, titled “CHD4 and SMYD1 repress common transcriptional programs in the developing heart”, in the journal Development.
The study’s findings demonstrate that the gene CHD4, which is linked to congenital heart disease, interacts with the histone methyltransferase SMYD1 to regulate a group of common genes. The work was featured in the April, 2024, Volume 151, Issue 8 of the journal Development and can be read online now.
