Boyce Griffith, Ph.D.NIH's Building Sustainable Software Tools for Open Science ProgramCongratulations to the Lab of Boyce Griffith, Ph.D., Professor, Departments of Mathematics and Biomedical Engineering; Adjunct Professor, Department of Applied Physical Sciences; Associate Chair for Research, Department of Mathematics; Member, Carolina Center for Interdisciplinary Applied Mathematics, Computational Medicine Program, and McAllister Heart Institute, for the receipt of R03 grant from the NIH’s Building Sustainable Software Tools for Open Science Program.

The award is a 2-year grant to advance Cardinal, a new open-source software platform for simulating all major aspects of heart function. Cardinal will provide researchers with a powerful, physics-based framework for integrating clinical and experimental data to better understand disease mechanisms, test interventions, and develop personalized treatment strategies.
