Congratulations to the Lab of Robert Wirka, M.D., Assistant Professor of Medicine and Cell Biology and Physiology, Division of Cardiology, for the receipt of R01 grant, entitled “The role of Twist1 in smooth muscle cells during atherosclerosis”, from NIH’s NHLBI.
Over the next 5 years, this funding will allow the lab to define fundamental smooth muscle cell biology during atherosclerosis and to determine how a top coronary artery disease-associated gene influences this process to modify disease risk.
