Izabella graduated from UNC Chapel Hill in 2021, receiving a Bachelor’s degree in Biology and double minoring in Chemistry and Medical Anthropology. As an undergraduate, she participated in the UNC SMART program beginning her journey in research studying plant-microbiome interactions with Dr. Jeff Dangl. Izabella joined Dr. Lakshmanane’s lab after graduation focusing on molecular biology and protein production for arbovirus and coronavirus diagnostics and vaccine research. She is currently taking a gap year and pursuing her research interests as she prepares for medical school. In her spare time, she enjoys working out, listening to Bad Bunny, and spending time with friends and family.
