Erica Bjornstad, MD, MPH
PGY3, Pediatric Nephrology
Currently completing a dual Pediatric Nephrology fellowship and PhD in epidemiology, Erica’s work has primarily focused in Sub-Saharan Africa. She completed her undergraduate degree at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill and medical school at the University of Maryland. She took a year off and completed a Doris Duke International Clinical Research Fellowhsip in Malawi. Her global health focus continued through Pediatric Residency at UNC Children’s Hospital when she continued a longitudinal project on improving pediatric clinical education in Tanzania through the support of the OIA global health scholarships. Now in Pediatric Nephrology fellowship her research focus is on better understanding the epidemiology of pediatric acute kidney injury in the US and Africa as well as on improving diagnostic detection of AKI.
