Amy is an MD/PhD student in Dr. Melissa Troester’s lab at UNC, where she studies the breast tissue microenvironment of benign breast lesions and breast cancer as part of the Carolina Breast Cancer Study (CBCS). Originally from California, she graduated from UC Berkeley in 2020 with a B.S. in Environmental Sciences, researching metabolic dysregulation caused by traffic-related air pollution. After college, she worked as a post-baccalaureate fellow at the National Cancer Institute (NCI) before enrolling in UNC’s MD/PhD program to study molecular epidemiology and genomics methods for understanding disease progression. In their free time, she enjoys baking banana bread, playing with her cat Yuzu, and playing volleyball with the Graduate Student Association.
