Paige Takasugi is an MD/PhD student currently in Li Qian’s laboratory studying cardiac reprogramming. Her project is focused on exploring the role of Gfpt2 in cardiac fibroblasts to better characterize their role in cardiac pathogenesis. She completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Utah where she received a B.S. in Biology with a Cell and Molecular emphasis. During this time, she worked in James Gagnon’s laboratory, where she helped optimize CRISPR based cell lineage tracing tools. She decided to come to UNC due to the friendly and supportive atmosphere. Outside of the lab, she enjoys climbing, backpacking, camping, and anything that gets her outdoors.
