Image of Gillian HaleThe Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine is pleased to welcome Dr. Gillian Hale to the department. Dr. Hale joins us with extensive experience in anatomic and clinical pathology, infectious disease pathology, and gastrointestinal and hepatobiliary pathology.

Dr. Hale received her MD from the George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences and an MPH from Dartmouth College, and completed her residency, chief residency, and fellowship training at the University of California, San Francisco. She previously served on faculty at the University of Utah as an Associate Professor of Clinical Pathology and held leadership roles in immunohistochemistry and anatomic pathology. Earlier in her career, Dr. Hale worked at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, where she played a key role in infectious disease investigations, including nationally recognized work related to Zika virus.

An accomplished educator, author, and national speaker, Dr. Hale has contributed extensively to the literature in infectious disease and gastrointestinal pathology and remains actively engaged in teaching and professional service. We are delighted to welcome Dr. Hale!
