Research Associate

Deborah received her Ph.D. in Microbiology from Yale University and has been at UNC since 2007.  Her post-doctoral project initially focused on the misfolding and trafficking of CFTR in human airway epithelial cells. As a Research Associate, she is interested in understanding the defects that result from CFTR mutations that lead to cystic fibrosis in order to identify new therapies. She is a recent winner of the UNC “Art and Science” competition for detection of CFTR in primary human bronchial epithelial cultures by fluorescence microscopy.

When not in the lab, look for Deb on the mountain bike trails.
