Summary Statement

Gabrielle Hodgins is a child and adolescent psychiatrist who joined the Child and Adolescent Mood and Anxiety Disorders Research Program in 2023. Gabrielle pursued a career in psychiatry largely due to her passion for improving quality and equity of care for children and teens suffering from mental health conditions. She is particularly interested in psychopharmacologic interventions and is excited to lead research efforts at the UNC Youth Behavioral Hospital beginning this year.

Throughout her medical training, Gabrielle has led many research projects focusing on the management of neurodevelopmental disorders, neuropsychopharmacology, and medical education. As a fellow of the American Psychiatric Association, she served on the committee for advocacy and government relations, and this work has further informed her efforts to transform research findings into real-world solutions for children and adolescents suffering from mental health conditions. Her expertise in psychopharmacology has allowed her to contribute to projects that inform treatment guidelines and improve our understanding of the mental health needs of children in North Carolina.

Prior to joining CHAAMP, Gabrielle completed her general residency in psychiatry and child and adolescent psychiatry fellowship at UNC in 2022 and 2023, respectively. Outside of work, Gabrielle loves to get outdoors with her dogs, garden, and travel.
