Psychiatrist/Advanced Practitioner Onboarding
Welcome to the First Episode Psychosis Program!
We are glad you joined our team, and we hope this will help you navigate your understanding of First Episode Psychosis (FEP), Coordinated Specialty Care (CSC) and the role of Early Psychosis Interventions of North Carolina (EPI-NC). Please ask questions and let us know what you need to best adjust to your new position!
First, please contact epi_nc@unc.edu in order to gain access to the EPI-NC Teams folder.

Medical Provider Specific Initial Orientation and Training
- An initial meeting with EPI-NC Psychiatry team (Diana Perkins or Katie Boyle) should be set up as soon as possible.
Within the First Month of Hire:
Providers should independently review the following supplied materials/webinars (some presentations have addition text in the “notes” section):
- EPI-NC Unique Treatment Principles for Eary Psychosis
- Differential Diagnosis
- Medical Work-up
- Introduction to the use of Clozapine in early psychosis
- Introduction to the use of LAIs in early psychosis
- NC-HeAL introduction + Safety Monitoring
- Review Fidelity Guidelines (Page 5 details service delivery expectations for medical management)
- Review Practice Guidelines and Manuals:
- APA Practice Guideline for the Treatment of Patients with Schizophrenia:
- We recommend the following sections:

A follow-up meeting with Diana Perkins or Katie Boyle must be set up following review of the materials to answer questions (60 minutes).

- EPI-NC Project ECHO – 2nd Wednesday of the month from 12-1:30pm
- Medical Provider conference calls – 4th Wednesday of the month from 12-1pm
