Topic: “Teaching and Learning in the Operating Room”

Dr. DaRosa is Professor Emerita of Surgery and Medical Education in the Department of Surgery at the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine where she served as the Vice Chair of Education for 16 years. She obtained her PhD in Education at Southern Illinois University in 1983. She has been a major leader in surgical education including the establishment of the Association of Surgical Education (ASE) for which she served as the first non-clinician president and was subsequently honored with the ASE Distinguished Educator Award in 2001. She has dedicated the majority of her career to faculty development, pursuing educational research and providing educational consultation. She has published over 100 abstracts, papers and book chapters, and has presented her research, keynote addresses, and faculty development programs at regional, national and international forums.
