At the annual Society of Academic Urologists meeting (held at the AUA 2017 meeting), Dr. Smith participated in a panel discussion focused on women in the urology workforce. Her presentation highlighted the current and future state of gender-specific pay and advancement in the field of urology. She also presented the bladder cancer take-home points at the AUA Plenary Session
In 2014, Doximity physician network, in collaboration with US News & World Report, announced their first-ever national evaluation of residency programs across 20 specialties. At that time, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Urology Residency was ranked 20th among Urology programs nationwide. The second annual rankings were published this week, with the UNC Chapel Hill program rising to #16.
UNC’s Department of Urology’s Dr. Raj Pruthi and Dr. Eric Wallen were recognized as Newsweek’s “Top Cancer Doctors” of 2015. The “Top Cancer Doctors 2015” was compiled after 100,000 nominations were carefully reviewed and proceed.
The Massachusetts Medical Society will award Culley C. Carson III, MD, with its Men’s Health Award at their 13th Annual Men’s Health Symposium in June. The award recognizes individuals who have advanced the cause of men’s health. Dr. Carson, a recognized authority on men’s health, is the John Sloan Rhodes and John Flint Rhodes Distinguished Professor of Urology in the Department of Urology at the UNC School of Medicine.
