Dr. Keku conducts translational research, combining basic science with epidemiology to gain a better understanding of the etiology and pathogenesis of cancer, especially colorectal cancer. Her primary research interests include the gut microbiome, gene environment interactions, biomarkers of cancer risk, molecular markers of prognosis, and health disparities. She is currently conducting a study to evaluate the relationship between the gut microbiome and colorectal adenomas and diverticulosis. Dr. Keku is a member of the American Gastroenterology Association, the American Association for the Advancement of Science, and the UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center.
