Biographical Information

Dr. Koonce attended the UNC School of Medicine and received his MD in 1999. He completed his Family Medicine Residency at East Carolina University in Greenville, NC in 2002. He then completed a fellowship in academic medicine at UNC and earned his MPH. He is board certified in Family Medicine. He currently serves as the Associate Chief Medical Officer for Outpatient Services for UNC Medical Center as well as the Vice Chair of Education for the Department of Family Medicine. He is involved in a number of educational programs within the School of Medicine and Family Medicine, including Medical Student education and the UNC Family Medicine Faculty Development Fellowship.

Inpatient medicine, quality improvement, and medical student teaching.
