General Match Information

The staff in the Office of Student Affairs is fully mobilized to help our students match successfully in residency programs. In addition, we have an outstanding group of career goal advisors ready to advise and assist our students. From the initial career planning and the application stage, through residency interviews, program selection, and matching, there are many details to which students must pay attention. We are here to help our students sort out these requirements and complete all of the necessary steps on time.

  • MSPE final student review by students - announced to each student by email

October 2012

  • October 1 - MSPE packets released by ERAS and to the Central Application Service
  • October 2 - Student Affairs begins to process requests to load updated transcripts in ERAS
  • October 19 - Interviewing workshop 12-1 PM, Place TBA
  • October 22 - Elective Period 5 begins – ends 11/16, Fall Semester

November 2012

  • Residency Program interviews begin (timing is specialty-dependent)
  • November 15 - Recommended deadline for taking Step 2 Clinical Knowledge (CK)
  • November 19 - Elective Period 6 begins - ends 12/14, Fall Semester
  • November 22 – Thanksgiving Holiday
  • November 30 - Deadline to complete NRMP Match Agreement without late fee. See http://www.nrmp.org/

December 2012

  • Tuition and Fees due - Spring Semester 2013 (date to be announced)
  • Register and set a date to take Step 2CS
  • December 15 - Free Period for Winter Holidays - ends 1/1/2013
  • December 31 - Deadline for passing USMLE Step 2 Clinical Knowledge.

January 2013

  • January 2 - Elective Period 7 begins - ends 1/25, Spring Semester

March 2013

  • March 11 – Matched/Unmatched status posted at noon.  Unmatched applicants will be notified and unfilled positions will be announced for the NRMP’s Supplemental Offer and Acceptance Program.
  • March 15 - Match Day (Holiday) - Class Meeting - time to be announced by Class co-presidents - Match Envelopes distributed at 12:00 pm
  • March 15 - Students who have completed third year meet with Student Affairs staff writer to review draft of Medical Student Performance Evaluation (MSPE, i.e., dean's letter).  This meeting should be completed by March 15.
