Interested in a Biomedical PhD but don’t know where to start?

UNC PREP (Postbaccalaureate Research Education Program) is specifically designed to equip and encourage students interested in pursuing a PhD in the Biological and Biomedical sciences. Students who have recently completed their Bachelor’s degree will spend one year on the campus of UNC Chapel Hill gaining and strengthening skills needed for entry and success in top-tiered PhD programs.

PREP scholars participate in summer courses on the Critical Analysis of Scientific Literature, GRE Prep, and hands-on Laboratory Skills Training.  In addition, all PREP scholars take a graduate level course at UNC while in the program.

Research...

UNC Chapel Hill is one of the nation's leading research universities. PREP scholars are paired with a faculty mentor and gain valuable experience participating in cutting edge research.

Community...

While on campus, PREP scholars are part of a supportive community of students with similar career interests and goals. Monthly socials, luncheons, and other events provide regular opportunities for PREP scholars to network with one another and the greater UNC research community.
