Evaluation for candidacy for kidney transplantation involves multiple outpatient studies and appointments. These studies include:

  • Nephrology evaluation
  • Social Worker evaluation (Psychologist if needed)
  • Transplant surgeon evaluation
  • Chest x-ray · Renal ultrasound
  • Electrocardiogram
  • Blood work (including hepatitis status and tissue typing)
  • Cardiac evaluation (with history of diabetes, cardiac disease, or age 45 and above)
  • PPD (Tuberculosis skin test)
  • PAP smear (females age 18 or older)
  • Mammogram (females age 45 and older) Additional testing may be required based on findings from the history or physical exam.
