Biographical Statement:

Mendy Minjarez, PhD is the Executive Director of the Seattle Children’s Autism Center and an Associate Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the University of Washington School of Medicine. Dr. Minjarez is a licensed psychologist with specialization in assessment, diagnosis and treatment of children with autism spectrum disorders. She is also the director of the Applied Behavior Analysis Early Intervention Program at the Autism Center, where she conducts clinical work, research and training of future clinicians. She has worked in the field of autism since 1995.

Dr. Minjarez completed her BA in psychology and biology at Claremont McKenna College in 1998, her MA in Counseling Psychology at University of California, Santa Barbara in 2000 and her PhD in Clinical Psychology at University of California, Santa Barbara in 2004. She completed her clinical internship and post-doctoral fellowship at the Yale Child Study Center at the Yale School of Medicine. She came to Seattle Children’s in 2010 from a faculty position in Psychiatry at the Stanford University School of Medicine. During her time at Seattle Children’s she has provided a range of clinical services, including assessment, diagnosis and treatment of autism using Naturalistic Developmental Behavioral Interventions and parent training. She also conducts research in these areas. Prior to becoming the Executive Director of the Autism Center, she was the Clinical Director from 2017-2019. She has been the Executive Director since 2019.
