Know Before You Go: Spring Medical Alumni Weekend
We can’t wait to see you at Spring Medical Alumni Weekend on Friday and Saturday, April 17-18!
Some general information:
- Weather in Chapel Hill next Friday and Saturday is expected to be warm and dry, in the upper 80s both days.
- Guests joining us for events on Saturday on campus should plan for heavier-than-usual traffic. In particular, the popular Tar Heel 10-Miler takes place Saturday morning, with some roads closed to thru traffic until around 10:30 a.m. We highly recommend guests wait until the race concludes to travel to campus. For full details on road closures, visit their website.
- For any questions or concerns about events next week, please reach out to us at medalum@med.unc.edu or 919-962-8891.
Annual Meeting of the Alumni Association:
The annual meeting of the alumni association is on Friday, April 17, 2026 at the Sheraton Chapel Hill. Our morning program, beginning at 10:30 a.m., is for current, elected Medical Alumni Council members. Coffee and tea will be available beginning at 10 a.m.
All alumni are invited to join us from Noon-3:30 p.m. for our annual meeting of the alumni association! Lunch will be served at Noon, followed by a presentation from Claire Larson, MD ’11, who directs the MD Program’s elective and scholarly concentration programs. Then our annual meeting will begin at 1:30 p.m. We will hear updates from members of leadership and engage in conversation about how to better serve the needs of alumni going forward.
This event will be held in the 3rd floor ballroom at the Sheraton. Staff in the lobby or the front desk staff can help direct you to the stairs or elevator. Business casual is recommended dress.
MD Reunion Information:
All reunion classes will gather together at the Sheraton Chapel Hill (One Europa Drive, Chapel Hill, NC 27517). This celebratory event will begin at 6 p.m. and last until 10 p.m.
From 6-7:30 p.m., enjoy heavy appetizer style food, a full bar, and reconnect with your classmates. At 7:30 p.m., a DJ will provide entertainment, with a separate room available for those wishing to continue visiting with one another in a quieter environment. Business casual is recommended dress.
A number of classes have chosen to host class-specific gatherings on Saturday evening, April 18, and Sunday morning, April 19. Our website has detailed event listings for each of our reunion classes. Visit https://www.med.unc.edu/alumni/upcoming-events/ and scroll to find your class schedule. Many class events required separate registration; please read your class event page carefully.
Roper Hall Open House:
On Saturday, April 18, from 1-3 p.m., join us for an informal open house on the medical school campus at Roper Hall, our new home for medical education at UNC. Enjoy a light lunch, tours of this fantastic new facility, and interact with students who represent various student organizations and interest groups.
The Roper Hall tour will include a stop at our state-of-the-art simulation center, where staff will lead attendees through an emergency room code simulation. Guests not wishing to observe this portion of the tour will be able to step away during the simulation. Casual is recommended dress. Comfortable shoes are encouraged.
Parking information:
For events at the Sheraton Chapel Hill (One Europa Drive, Chapel Hill, NC 27517) on Friday, on-site parking is available. Guests who are only joining us during events and not staying overnight may disregard signs about paying to park. Guests staying overnight should check with hotel staff regarding how to register your vehicle.
