UNC Anesthesiology’s research portfolio includes a thematic, NIH-funded research program focused on improving pain outcomes and recovery after stress and trauma, a number of other investigator-initiated studies conducted by our outstanding faculty, and a growing industry-sponsored trials program. Donations to our Anesthesiology Research Fund are directed to understanding the causes of acute and chronic pain and their treatments as well as recovery and pain management after traumatic injuries/events.
